The Milton Freewater Rotary Club has partnered with the Museum to add a one-room Pioneer Schoolhouse to the Farmstead property. This is quite an intensive project with a budget of almost $110,000. Fortunately, the Rotary Club has been a great fundraiser and almost $72,000 has been committed to the project from various entities, including the Ford Foundation, the Umatilla County Commissioners and the Rotary’s own fundraising event.
An architect has been hired and plans are in the works to start the hard work of harvesting lumber from the 1928 Cockburn Barn that has been generously donated for our use in the project. We are looking to raise the additional $40,000 and sign up volunteers to help us move the wood from where it sits now to the Farmstead.
If you are interested in helping with this project you can donate to it online or sign up to help bring the historic wood to the Museum property. Contact us at: frazier1868@gmail.com.
